Lets get to know each other…

As a teacher, it is easy to feel alone in a classroom with more eyes on you than any other part of your day. You have heard it before but I will say it again with true meaning, you are not alone and I am not just telling you that you have me. for each pair of eyes they come with another pair of eyes that are watching you even though they are not in front of you. Families are the corner stone of everything. Without the family, yes at times this journey can be difficult, but what can we do as the teacher for over 150 days “teach first the family”.
This blog is the place to seek information, strategies, resources, and connections that will help you help the first families in your classroom. Building the extended family is so important but yet where is the blue print for this to happen. In all professional development, it is stressed – build relationships…but again where is the blue print. I am a first year teacher and I don’t know how to build relationships with my students and certainly not the family – where is the blue print. My face tells the story – I don’t know where to start.
Whether you are the teacher or the family, this is where it all starts. We will have the opportunity to talk together to create and build the first families in our classrooms. All willing workers and even those who are peeping through the blinds, lets travel as first families to build a community that communicates to make sure we are the best team for each set of eyes in the classroom.
First things first, let me introduce the first of many concepts to first family. We might not admit it, but don’t be afraid. Don’t be afraid to talk with your families, someone has to take the first step, so why not the teacher. Don’t step when there is a problem, take care of the first families right from the beginning.
Lets talk…how do you build relationship? Do you know how to start? Do you need a blue print? Do you see the value in first family? Lets talk…
